Michael & Lucy Hjort opened Melton’s in 1990.
Melton’s is a fine dining restaurant serving modern British food and it was Michael’s position as Chef Proprietor, which made it one of York’s leading restaurant. The kitchen is now lead by Head Chef Calvin Miller, who has worked with Michael for over 14 years. Melton’s continues to be featured in The Michelin Guide, and this year earned a Third AA Rosette.
Melton’s is renowned for serving high quality food in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Front of House is still run by Michael’s wife Lucy, who is also behind the ever-changing, eclectic, wine list.
